Submissions Sought for Departmental Awards

Current Students: The English Department is now accepting submissions for our three main writing awards. You need not be an English major or a senior to be eligible for these awards. Specifics:

All work should be submitted in hard copy to the English Dept. office, Wyatt 335, by April 2, 2010

1. The Heuston Literature Prize is awarded to a currently-enrolled student for an essay written for a 400-level Literature or Theory course. The submission must be a clean typed copy, with your name attached on a 3×5 index card.

2. Submissions for the Nixeon Civille Handy Poetry Contest should consist of a single unpublished poem of not more than 50 lines. Do not put your name on the poem; instead, submit a clean, typed copy in an envelope on which is written the title or first line of the poem and the author’s name.

3. Submissions for the Esther B. Wagner Prize in Fiction should consist of a single story of not more than 25 typed, double-spaced pages.
