Vote for a National Book Award winner, 2009

For the first time in the award’s history, the National Book Foundation is opening its “Best of the National Book Awards Fiction” award (there’s an overlooked NBA!) to public vote. And they are presenting a book-a-day blog on the winners from 1950-2008. AND, you can vote for your selection in “the best of” category and win a trip to the NBA in September. (Sorry–the publishing one, still.)

Sad to say, I haven’t read many of these, but I recommend Ellison’s Invisible Man, of course, and Glass’s Three Junes highly. More recommendations from this list are welcome. (Prof.Nimura)
