Novelist Michael Cunningham Will Visit Soon

Novelist Michael Cunningham, author of The Hours, will visit campus beginning April 22.  An exhibit of his works, however, is already up at Collins Library, and his books are also available in the campus bookstore. On the weekend of April 17-19, Campus Films will show the movie-adaptation of The Hours.

On April 22, Cunningham will visit a session of English 402 to discuss his short story, “White Angel,” and talk in general about narrative writing.  From 3-4 he will take part in a panel discussion, “Language as Music, Music is Language,” in the School of Music.

On April 23rd, Cunningham will vist Professor Mita Mahato’s English 307 class, and also on the 23rd, there will be an open rehearsal (free) in Kilworth Chapel of Cunningham’s upcoming performance with the Tacoma Sinfonetta.

Cunningham will perform with the Sinfonetta in Tacoma and Seattle, and another performance will occur on April 25th in Schneebeck Hall on campus. Check the Open Line and the Arts and Lectures online site for further details.
