Pulitzer-Prize Winning Novelist Will Visit Campus in April

cunninghamProfessor Keith Ward, Dean of the School of Music, has announced that Pulitzer-Prize-winning novelist Michael Cunningham will visit UPS in April.  Because of his interest in music, Cunningham will perform with the Northwest Sinfonietta in Seattle (on April 24) and at the UPS Fieldhouse (on Saturday, April 25).  Tentatively, however, an open rehearsal with the Sinfonietta and Cunningham will occur at Kilworth Chapel on April 23rd, and English students and other members of the campus community are encouraged to attend.  Cunningham is also tentatively scheduled to visit Professor Ostrom’s English 402 class (fiction writing) and Professor Mahato’s Visual Rhetoric class (English 412). Stay tuned for more details.

Cunningham is the author of Specimen Days, Laws for Creations, and A Home at the End of the World.  His best know work is probably The Hours, on which the film of the same name is based.  Funds from the university’s Chism Endowmen are helping to bring Cunningham to the Pacific Northwest.
